Hos 2:5-9 | NASB2020 | STEP | “For their mother has committed prostitution ; She who conceived them has acted shamefully . For she said , ‘ I will go after my lovers , Who give me my bread and my water , My wool and my flax , my oil and my drink .’

Hosea 2:5-9

5 “For their mother has ^acommitted prostitution;
She who conceived them has acted shamefully.
For she said, ‘ ^bI will go after my lovers,
Who ^cgive me my bread and my water,
My wool and my flax, my ^doil and my drink.’
6 “Therefore, behold, I will ^eobstruct ^{▼▼As in some ancient versions; MT your}her way with ^gthorns,
And I will build ^{▼▼Lit her stone wall so that}a stone wall against her so that she cannot find her ⁱpaths.
7 “And she will ^jpursue her lovers, but she will not reach them;
And she will seek them, but will not find them.
Then she will say, ‘ ^kI will go back to my ^lfirst husband,
Because it was ^mbetter for me then than now!’

8 “Yet she does ⁿnot know that it was ^oI myself who gave her the grain, the new wine, and the oil,
And lavished on her silver and gold,
Which they ^{▼▼Or made into the}used for Baal.
9 “Therefore, I will ^{▼▼Lit return and take My
,} ^rtake back My grain at ^{▼▼Lit its time}harvest time
And My new wine in its season.
I will also take away My wool and My flax
That I gave to cover her nakedness.
